From the Inside Out

We spend many a day, week, month even years attempting to change the world around us, especially as it is often considered that problems come from outside conditions. However, the truth is what you hold in your mind comes to life irrespective of your desires. Your life is a mirror image of your thoughts.


Therefore, to change the world around you must first change what’s inside of you. You must work from the inside out.


At the beginning of 2022, my life was not going to plan despite my best efforts, I was not achieving the outcomes I wanted; It was time for me to sit still and listen. I started to focus on what was happening around me and what was happening in my life that I hadn’t planned. Then I had to go inside and examine my thoughts, fully aware that I had created my world.

Being open and honest with yourself can be a very uncomfortable journey. No one wants to admit that they are creating the chaos around them, that they are responsible for having bad relationships, or not getting a promotion.


It was Albert Einstein who said: “We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.


So, if you want something to change you must change your thinking. That’s what I had to do. I looked at what was happening around me and started examining my thoughts. What thoughts did I have that were bringing about my reality?


I changed my thoughts and wrote these down daily, even meditating on them. I focused consciously on what I wanted, accepted that it was true and took action to back this up. Within a few weeks, my focus was bringing about the changes I desired.


It’s true to say that we can get so busy living our lives, that we become unaware of what our thoughts are until those thoughts become our reality. If you believe that you will fail, then you will fail, if you believe you will achieve, you will achieve.


I had a client recently who came to me after losing his job. He was confused, felt low and didn’t understand how it happened. He thought he was doing well and enjoyed working with his colleagues. We explored his thinking around his role, his thoughts on the company, and how felt about going to work every day.


He said things like “I didn’t really like my boss; I have been considering leaving for a while” and “I used to get frustrated with the way things kept changing”. As you can see, his thoughts became his reality, he disliked his role and had serious thoughts about wanting to move on. His thoughts would have created his feelings and ultimately actions that gave out the wrong vibes.


Our actions will often be done unconsciously, so if your world is not what you had planned, take a moment to go inside and examine your thoughts.


  • Create the thoughts of what you want,

  • Visualise yourself having it

  • Practice these thoughts daily

  • Believe you have it,

  • Feel how you would feel when you have it

  • Be congruent with your actions.
